If you feel “untouchable” it’s at will employment everywhere.. yes, there are laws governed by Stares ..advice? Dust off your resume and always build your skills. Look at Optum hiring in the Western region- they all came from the same former healthcare org. That’s is the only “bullet proof” so to speak that your jobs are somewhat “protected” or “shielded” until your “protector” left or dismissed …newly hired management Automatically got bumped up to the next level upon hiring despite they had never held similar titles/positions before.. it’s not what you know it’s who you know - old story..

It used to be as long as you got your work done, who cares how long it takes to do the work. If you are hourly and have inventory completion counts then when you hit your minimum metric you should be good. Now they want you to seek out more work after completing your own. Pay woke people know their time is worth something. They will adjust the time it takes to do the work because why do more work for same pay. The hope of corporate is to squeeze out every last drop of energy you have and you leave your eight hrs mentally and physically exhausted. Oh let me help you fellow coworker who is struggling to even complete one thing a week. Let's not have the manager train that person (because such a budget exists) or replace them (because they actually can remove ineffective employees). Instead, let's have the smart coworkers pick up the slack. This smart coworker isn't looking to do more work for the same pay. Instead I am looking to delegate my work to others, to free up my time to take on more meaningful, value add activities. Let the others do the busy work. Wonder how that is measured.

So, I can’t mow my lawn or take a dip in the pool between meetings?

I believe it, they have installed the spyware on all company workstations to track keyboard strokes with timestamps. The worse part is untrained managers don’t mange workflows and then can penalize workers for being away from their keyboard!

Sounds like a scare tactic to get more productivity out of people. And if they want to lay you off/fire you, they don't need a reason. People are under the impression that you have power over companies like Optum. You really don't, unfortunately.

If your salary, how would they do that. How would they even track that? I do work on my phone and my work pc.

Every minute of our day is tracked and scrutinized by the managers.

They will do anything to sc--w remote workers. People do the same thing in an office setting, because there’s no way you’re working the entire 8 hours.
