Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Wednesday is D-Day

That's when we'll know the true scope of coming layoffs. If the results are good, then it'll be the usual small layoff here and there for the foreseeable future. If the results are bad (which is the more likely scenario) we are screwed, since we all know that Stankey's best (and only) response to bad results is major layoffs.

A couple in the group received an early morning invite while rest received an 11am invite. Seems odd, even if it is just to announce what you are saying Post ID: @1vuz+1kPIjp3M

The email went out to all Ace Employees in impacted groups. Call at noon. They are looking for volunteers and than on 1/13 they will be notifying employees who are being laid off. Impacted doesn’t mean they have picked you, it means your functional org in general is impacted.

Malarkey, at&t only wants to dump the ringers off payroll.

How confident are you about the 11 impacted 1130 non-impacted information?

Mobility ACE 1/24 11AM impacted call. Followed up with a 1130AM non impacted. There will be a period of IIL 1/24-1/31. Mid Feb announcement with 3/3 off payroll date. Good luck folks, bumpy ride ahead for 2023.

What does “period of IIL” mean?

It makes sense to do multiple smaller number of layoffs rather than one massive layoff. The company can easily eliminate the ringers from payroll.

Wireless subs and churn are self calculated and self reported. Look at the real numbers, cash flow and debt service.

Of course Stank will cherry pick focus on wireless subs and churn rate. Look at year over year earnings per share, layoff will continue.

Wednesday is just going to be a bunch of fluff x gained subscribers here etc. Won’t be any indicator of layoffs that was set last year.

It’s more of an indicator of how much bonus Stankey and his people will get 😂

Hey @lmv+1kPIjp3M :
I know you've got it all figured out, BUT:
"The company already knows how many, how much, and who they will surplus or layoff. They knew this before the 4QR."

Wrong. They needed to get the full picture from all of the retirements to start working on a target. They didn't have this before the 4 quarter.

Also, why be nervous? Focus on what you can control.

Layoffs will be small scale throughout various areas of the business. A massive layoff makes zero sense and can adversely affect the company in the long run! I know people are nervous, but I have been around for a very long time and have never seen a massive layoff all at once! I would guess around 3-5% this year and be done with it!

I think, given the current climate, layoffs are going to happen to a large number of people, and justifiably so. The technology side has been an absolute bloodbath (Google, Microsoft, Meta, and Twitter). It is an axiom that everyone needs connectivity, but not everyone needs expensive connectivity that justifies 6 figure incomes.

The company already knows how many, how much, and who they will surplus or layoff. They knew this before the 4QR. It is always about making sure the shareholders get as much value for their investment as possible; even though it sucks for those of us who may be on the chopping block.

I have been in telecom for more than 25 years now, and have worked for various telcos, and it has been this way for as long as I can remember at every company. I have luckily never been selected for surplus or layoff (yet), but it is still stressful during times like these.

For those that have been hit, and those that will be hit, I wish them the best of luck. I may be part of the statistic as well, but my group should find out this week sometime. I am not going to lie, this one has me nervous.
