Before you all yell at me…I was laid off a few months back after 12+ years…at first I was relieved and then I started to feel really angry, DEPRESSED (still am) and felt rejected BUT I’d like to ask the masses here - isn’t this all just “business?” Don’t you think this has been hard for Mike? I don’t personally know him but he doesn’t seem heartless, but then again he IS a corporate CEO so maybe it’s part of the job. Everyone talks about Legere and how great he was BUT that’s only because we were building the company up and creating a good story for a merger but after Sprint we moved into an “operating” business model which always results in CHANGE and LAYOFFS. I think this is why Legere left when he did and let Mike take the helm, since he couldn’t be the “cool party guy” anymore, he WAS the brand, a celebrity and there was NO WAY his ego could stand what was required next (smart move, I don’t blame him, I would’ve done the same). It’s like John was the cool dad and Mike’s now the mean mom who makes you do chores. PLEASE tell me if what happened (and will continue to happen through 2024) is NOT standard business practice when you’re merging 2 companies together. For the record, I will agree they let a lot of the RIGHT people go and left a LOT of the wrong people stay. The layoff was led by a consulting company and there was NO consideration given to the actual work people did, but again isn’t that (sadly) “normal?” I’m looking for answers since I’m still trying to process it all. Thanks!

Did you believe that Mike is a caring guy? Did you believe the SLT then they said they loved you? When they said the vax mandate was because they were concerned about your health -- did you believe them? Do you believe politicians when they say the same things? Do you think the government care about your well being. Do you believe celebrities that fly around in private jets are truly concerned about carbon emissions?
Improve yourself. Save money. Avoid debt. work on your health. Do not trust your life and well being to a bunch of narcissistic liars.
I will never give a company my all. When they get my two weeks, I will do nothing!
Leave Mike alone. He’s a nice person. Fu-k all ya’ll.
Mike does it because he loves our customers. Especially the youth.
It may be just business. Mike acts like a mafia don.
Mike is taking care of MIKE…his compensation has been and will be going up through all of the many rounds of layoffs. Same goes for all of his direct reports. T-Mobile is not your family—it’s a job.
STFU and get back to work!
Each of you, find a good counselor.
How would you describe a person who says take an unproven medical treatment, or you are fired? Because that's what he did.
With each passing day, I am prouder and prouder with to have been fired by TMO that way.
Yes, you are right. It is “business”. I do not take issue with layoffs when needed… and after a merger of this size, of course, it was needed. Anyone who believed otherwise was drinking the kool-aid. HOWEVER, my issue is the WAY Mikey executed it.
The T-Mobile SLT give lip-service to caring about the employees, and they give lip-service to being the uncarrrier. However, I feel that if this were true, they would have asked for volunteers and offered early retirement first. Then, if not enough people volunteered, then they would make their cuts (based on performance). The SLT should also have been more transparent from the get-go (something else they give lip-service too).
The way they executed this left those remaining with very low morale. For those that were cut last year, the majority of the people I know have found better paying jobs and a better work/life balance… and pocketed some free cash.
Again, IMO, the SLT could have handled this better… but I never trusted Mikey or his bobble-head Deanne.
One thing I learned from it is do not trust what they saidz it is not just a business, but also a game
The lay off hit me hard as well. They laid off everyone who was tenured in favor of Indians. I knew Mike S because I was there when Marketing fit in Newport 2 1c. He is a psychopath that has no empathy. It’s about cost with TMO. Get rid of tenured people in favor of cheap talent. I used to work 60 to 70 hours, so when I started working for another company, I was happy. I still look back because I don’t appreciate how it was done but I am glad it was done. You will feel better if not grateful once you get in your new rhythm. I think TMO will hit a time when cost cutting also cuts their quality and slip. Believe it or not, Microsoft almost died when they pulled this cr-p in 2010.
