What's the status of the team now that the silicon has been cancelled?
Is this a sign that the era of programmable network comes to the end? or it's just the PISA architecture is not preferred by IT companies any longer?
I worked on this project and it got so much priority and expediting. I know it wasn’t profitable but I blame that on the making of 12 different iterations of something that wasn’t broken to try to “intelize” it. We tried to change the original design rules to fit Intel standard and it broke.
But to start out, let’s just level set about what NEX is and what you are trying to do at Intel in the datacenter and at the edge with regard to networking and a healthy dose of Xeon compute.

IDM and IFS baby till Intel go broke
Sad but not surprising. I was thrilled when I got laid off w/severance because I got tired (and burned) out from the company constantly setting us up for failure, putting up unnecessary hurdles and telling us to go faster, and dealing with thrash every single day.
It was like the company wanted to go out of business.

If it isn't profitable and it doesn't contribute to the 'moonshot', you can expect your project to be cancelled.
Tofino 3 and Tofino 5
Is this a newer version of the Tofino ASIC announced by Barefoot Networks about 5-years ago?
