Thread regarding Avaya layoffs

Avaya announces more layoffs last week & no posts or comments?

AM travels to London after announcing more layoffs this time across Europe & still towing the line that In Court (Chap 11) & Out of Court (restructuring) are both possible outcomes. Asking employees to stay focused and work hard as the future remains is unknown. I can't believe we are still sitting here on 1/17/23 waiting to "turn the page" on the companies financial future.

Sad to hear… Fortunately I managed to get out a while ago now, but there’s always been a toxic sales culture and sick approach to customer’s maintenance contracts. I saw leadership change at all levels and the culture seemed endemic within the fabric of the business. Failure to innovate, beholden to customers and partners (and actually, internal factions / fiefdoms too) that refuse to move on from CMS and their Vectors…

AM says it will all be over soon…… we’ll it’s 11:59 for Avaya - it will all be over soon, after laying off half the staff they will now steal their stock and give it the Apollo gods. Shafted twice by the night in shining armor.

“Our customer base is the envy of the world” isn’t that what Nortel claimed? Think our customers are going to keep buying out dated products? Think Microsoft et al don’t already have those same customers? Ostrich thinking. We have nothing new or compelling. Easing customers to the cloud is not a USP it’s surrendering to a lack of innovation.

Avaya on this path will go in to managed decline, milking the maintenance and managed service contracts while slowly becoming irrelevant.

The middle office and back office internal systems and staff are archaic and creaking, they will ki-l off any chance of morphing into a modern company. Time to market with a new offer is more than six months - no agility, no digital transformation and no chance of survival as no effort has been made to look at anything beyond sales, sales sales ( though we have nothing to sell).

Rant over - so sad I could cry.

@1ddh+1kJDBfua - The Emperor has no clothes! When the emperor first got here he really fired up the ranks, his messaging was a welcomed rallying call. Hark, how the shine of $10 million dollars can blind thee. That little trick on yesterday’s call of tweeting the question and blowing smoke will backfire big time. His messaging has been totally undercut by himself, his credibility is going out the window. The ranks can see right through all the smoke. It’s amazing how the kings all think they are smart enough to candy coat a POS and sell it as a truffle. Now he looks like just another overpaid blond cheerleader. The damage is done.

We all know the quote/unquote layoffs we're based on legalities of EU law associated with a company who needs to gain bankruptcy approval.

They attempted to execute Germany layoffs in early December. Then withdrew. It was b/c the creditors (who make all decisions) learned they would face consequence if not to consider all variables. So they withdrew the formal layoffs, just to then execute a few weeks alter.

Prepared calculated BK all the way.

Someone posted a question to ceo on all hands call today asking if he had any comments on the dec 23/2022 sec filing where he got a big bonus. So when he got to that question, he said "here is a question on the dec 13 filing" .....wow...either someone changed the question before handing it over to him or he decided to just pretend it was about dec 13.....the question was nicely evaded.

AM’s all hands call today really was very very poor. Listening to him is like wading through mud - hard freakin’ work. The 10 million dollar man really is a great disappointment and there is zero light at the end of a very long and depressing Avaya tunnel. All the layoffs and cost cutting will be meaningless when FY23 tanks - Q1 numbers were just awful and Q2 looks as bad if not worse and all the while the folks that got us into this stinking mess are still here and being listened to and rewarded by a weak CEO.
