According to previous company information, subject to change of course. There is greater than a 90% chance you won’t get a call so the odds are in your favor if you want to stay. Good luck to those leaving!

We are doing this org by org, roughly 10 to 15% perorg in order to get to a specific payroll dollar amount.
Is this an HR person speaking or a C-suite manager?
Just want to validate the credibility of the information posted on this site!
Again, this is for management only and not craft because they aren't even thinking about craft this year.
The 60 day notice was eliminated two years ago. Two weeks is the stand right now it has nothing to do with the WARN Act. Not all states require WARN and it is more about how many people were let go in a specific location, not total amount of people accompany lays off. We are doing this org by org, roughly 10 to 15% perorg in order to get to a specific payroll dollar amount. Yesterday was the beginning these layoffs will continue each month throughout the entire year as they go through each org.
It seems they kept the layoffs to under 500 people to avoid the WARN Act and just give 2 weeks notice. So it seems small in size but there are definitely people who were let go yesterday and I assume a lot more to come. I wonder if they keep it small each time to avoid the 60 day notice...
Because the surplus seemed much smaller than Some of us expected- I am interested in getting feedback from those that were selected to see if they have an opinion why they were let go.
When I was surplused several years ago I recall receiving a document that listed some demographic info on the pool of people selected. Maybe you will see that in the surplus email that you are expected to receive today.
Not much info how many got the surplus notice and what orgs got hit the most. Seems like isolated incidents. Definitely does not sound like 10 to 30 %.
I have said it before and am saying it again, I believe the layoff hysteria is just that! Sure, there will definitely be layoffs, but not in the gargantuan numbers everyone on this site is expecting. It'll be more like a couple here and a couple there and not large segments of a group or organization all at once! I'm not too concerned at this point and refuse to lose sleep over this unknown!
Come back to us after you get the email and your chit is boxed up and your access is removed.
AT&T has a huge amount of self imposed debt. When you see Stankey gyrating his pathetic hands around in the town hall webcast and Jeff McElfresh says "We cannot cost cut our way to success" You have to know the gig is up. By the way, Pro Tip here, when you see Stankey's hands move around when he is talking about a subject, understand he is out of his league on that subject. That is what we call a "tell". Body language means something. Leaders who are confident in their knowledge will stand and deliver their message without shifting around and using theatrics. The hand gestures are a means of distraction used to buy him mental time until he can formulate a thought that he thinks will be plausible. Time old trick, but people keep buying it.

The C Suite can cost the company billions, (THEY HAVE) the people that do actual work cannot afford a single misstep. Remember this and act accordingly.
I love this...no truer words were ever spoken when it comes to T! Words to live by!
Press is a real piece of work, laughing at his AMA about surpluses. When asked about how they will help surplused employees transition, he said something like that's not their problem. Their focus is to get to an effective cost structure and deliver shareholder value.
Always give it all you can. Forgo any family time, be available 24/7/365 for the company. Your efforts will be rewarded. Well maybe not.
Your labor and efforts regardless if you are craft or management belong to the shareholders and the C Suite. The C Suite can cost the company billions, (THEY HAVE) the people that do actual work cannot afford a single misstep. Remember this and act accordingly.
This is just the start, expect more layoffs this quarter and beyond
What if I haven't received an all clear email and haven't been contacted about being laid off?
Maybe clear "for the time being until next round?"

No updates yet under Press/Legg.
I know of 1 impacted under Kremer. The rest of my team got the all-clear.
Anyone heard of or been affected under Legg/Summers/Kremer org today?
In Legg/Markus org. At 4:12 PM an e-mail went out with the subject line "A message from Andy Markus" saying "At this time all impacted active employees have been notified."
With the surplus openly spoken about in multiple town halls, never like I have seen in the past, it seems that today’s event was small in scope based on all the activity logged on this site. I know Legg says he is a proponent of having a staff of employees versus contractors, perhaps that had something to do with it. Not really sure, maybe contract firms took a hit. Or losing 13k employees since the end of the 3Q had something to do with it.
“ I am also in the Sambar org. Also told that today is not our surplus day. We know cuts are to be made, no date given. I do recall Corey Anthony clearly saying they need to be made quickly so I expect it is going to happen sooner than later.”
Rumor is mid Feb at the latest, but likely sooner. I think there’s too much stuff going on at the moment on the Network side to let folks go. Most orgs are already very lean or needing headcounts to keep up with demands. Our VP was adamant that if we get cuts on our side we will drop services that are mandated since we don’t have enough people as is. We just won’t be able to handle more work load.
I was affected. Legg / Press org. Affected people got a meeting request from L3+. Unaffected people got a "Update on org" request for later this afternoon.

I thought this whole layoff threat was a hoax, then I got the call. Can't find any good jobs available on indeed.
My opinion is they will not wait until April. They are trying to show continued strength of the bottom line to keep the momentum going. Leadership was excited when they saw some analysts go positive on T after 3Q results.
Will round two start in April?

We are under Andy Markus, In my team, 2 people got notices..
“Anyone heard of or been effected under Sambar organization? C&E, RAN etc?”
“I am in this org and was told today’s surplus does not include us. Not sure what that means because our SVP (reporting to Chris) told us in a town hall there will be cuts.”
We heard the same thing. Seems today’s notices were in organizations other than under Sambar. We have heard eventually could be as low as 5 percent or as high as 10 depending on existing headcount at market or sub market , organization et al. Someone did say that RAN in particular is consider vital to network performance and customer impact and cuts were likely to be limited and perhaps dependent upon Q1 results.
Sorry to everyone affected. T really is the worst.
Anyone under Andy Markus?
Anyone heard of or been effected under Sambar organization? C&E, RAN etc?
I am in this org and was told today’s surplus does not include us. Not sure what that means because our SVP (reporting to Chris) told us in a town hall there will be cuts.
"It's true. I am one that is affected. It's in the Legg organization."
Sorry to hear that.
Can you please tell us how you came to know about it? received a call from supervisor, or email?
Reply to question: Yes. I received a meeting invite and was told on the meeting. They read a script clearly given to them by HR. They tell you immediately and then go over a few things that is now just a bunch of wonk wonk wonk and then tell you that you will receive an email detailing the next steps. You will be off payroll by 1/31.
Anyone in Welday/Sarita?
The ones affected will be off payroll by 1/31 and they are encouraging you not to look for work within the company and focus all your efforts externally.
McElfresh/Welday/Townes/Legree/etc seems to have been hit and more to come in EMEA the next few weeks. Its dead business AT&T want out off. Pity as I sit here
I'm in the Mid West and have not received a call. Does that mean I won't get one? I'm torn because I may actually want the call. I'm tired of going through this. It's very draining and hard to make any long term personal plans.
I'm under Irene Shannon in ATS Org.
Anyone hear how Irene Shannon's org is affected?
Affected here by layoff. Under: McElfresh/Welday/Townes. Sucks really but life goes on………
Anyone heard of or been effected under Sambar organization? C&E, RAN etc?
I’m in the Legg org and haven’t gotten anything about this “employee exit process” course. The description of the course says that it is “for all Domestic Supervisors enterprise-wide”, so a bit weird that they’d be pushing that to people getting laid off unless they’re also supervisors.
Got a call from supervisor this morning. Two others in my group got the call as well. Under McElfresh/Welday/Townes/Legree
"Post ID: @rni+1kJ4KnlD
It's true. I am one that is affected. It's in the Legg organization."
Sorry to hear that.

I just enrollment notification for a new course called 'Prioritizing the Employee Exit Process' in PLE. Is this a mandatory training for employees or specific to surplus impacted orgs? I'm in Leggs organization.
It's true. I am one that is affected. It's in the Legg organization.
