This is a word of warning to people either thinking of joining AS or to others that may not understand how pay is structured. Several years ago the company came out with a revamped salary plan called “market range relativity”. This program basically says that the pay grades will stay intact however you are no longer allowed to progress to the top end of that paygrade. When they post jobs showing what appears to be a wide pay range, please understand that you have no opportunity to work towards much past the 50% mark of that range. Although AS claims one of its core principles to be “TRANSPARENCY”, they continue to advertise pay grades that just simply aren’t true. They get away with this by basically telling employees that you CAN get to the top of the paygrade if you “walk on water”. However, I’ve now had two managers indicate that they were explicitly told by senior leaders that there is no opportunity to progress in the pay grade. Since the company decided to post inaccurate pay grades, I felt the need to post this in full TRANSPARENCY.

I work at Progressive now and make 20k more than I did at Allstate, and that’s after 5 years there. Lol
Get out while you can.
Here they don’t tell us we can’t share our pay with others, and we can look up what everyone makes - that’s true transparency.
The 50 % cap is very accurate, unless you get better than expected rating then you can muddle past the 50% tier 2 but have to get better than expected every year or that's your new cap. Shady business practices.
It’s 75% for Claims and that can be overridden with Director approval (dependent largely on your value to the Company). You can even go above the 100% with a performance bonus, however one would have to question, if you’re that good, why you’re not promotable… To me, their policy says “don’t be average”. Regardless, if you’re not happy with your pay, you either find out what it takes to get to the next level, or you look for something that makes you happier.
Whether it’s above 50 like the original post said or 75, either way, advertising a false salary opportunity is just another immoral move by these guys. My personal experience was you could get somewhat close to 75 but the going gets tough as you’re eligible for less and less as you move up. The reasoning was never fully explained to me. The manager didn’t seem to know. And yes I left because there was no further financial opportunity.
Not sure which department you are in but in my department you can get up to 75% or the pay grade and then you are capped. Either way that still is bad
If you don't think you are paid fairly goto another employer.
The mindset that this company owes you everything is crazy
The 50 percent statement is not accurate at all. Incorrect view rendered.
This is done so they can claim they pay competitive wages. They can still point to a competitive pay band. And at the same time, they can just not use the whole band. Win win. Treat the employee just like the treat their claimants!!
