Seems like they did a decent job in 22 of exceeding their fiber build targets. Give them wiggle room to achieve that target they talked about for 25. Can see them not needing as many Engineers in the future. Reasonably low maintenance with high capacity. Shouldn’t take a rocket scientist to see the possibilities when they hit that 50% threshold with all jobs associated with the old copper network.

"Do a google search for the CFO- he gave an interview not too long ago and he literally said they will be reductions COMPANY WIDE- so if your “VP” is telling you’re safe - he/she is lying lol - Jan 17 is the date by the way."

Nope. None in my VP group just like previously stated. Onto the next quarter and we'll see.

Wireline IFP overbuild 2023 build reduced from 90k living units to 60k living units in my florida district. AT&T is also noting in investor calls 2023 as the year of peak capital expenditures for 5g and wireline. AT&T hired directly from osp contractors for IFP overbuild team and replacement BAU. The OSP engineering head count has increased by 1/3 since 2020. As they reach goal of 30 million living units served by 2025 I could see significant reduction in OSP engineering managers. I doubt they go full contractor though

Total contract engineering out has been tried multiple times in the past and always reverts back in some form.

Rumors I've heard is that the OSP Engineers will start having regular layoffs over the course of 2 years and the work will be contracted out to the many regional Engineer firms that specialize in utilities design/install.

Anyone hear anything on MW OSP Engineers ? The numbers they want gone specifically? The lame offer is coming out soon, but why take it ? It would have plenty of takers last year ! Ba$tards ! I’m sure once they get one person taking the offer, the blood bath is weeks away. Thanks

Truth is …… you may make it through this round but you will, forever be looking over your shoulder here. There is no easing of headcount pressure because leadership knows no other way to cut costs, or better yet increase revenue…both of which are very very sad. So, make the money while you can and at the same time get your resume updated and be proactive.

OP, must be one of those employees that thinks there is no connection between Cricket and ATT. Total disconnected from the company they work for.

"My VP said we’re safe this round. I’m sure there will be more this year though"

Would you mind sharing who the VP is? That info may bring a lot of relief to some of us. At least for the time being.
Thank you.

Why does Stankey get his own personal housekeeping crew? These positions should be contracted out immediately!

Every business unit VP will have to reduce the organization headcount at a minimum 10%. Some orgs are up to 30%. Free ride is over people.

I’m in housekeeping and they are surplusing 4 of our staff that cleans Stanley’s office.
Makes me sad because now I won’t get those pearls of wisdom he’s always giving us.
