There is an interesting dichotomy here. Are managers empathetic? Maybe. Some are and some aren't. Let's be honest. People, no matter their station in life, are all individuals with individual aspirations and goals. I have worked for jerks as managers and I have worked for great managers. Question is- what is in their power to control anything? If they are told to cut 10% of staff, then they have to cut 10% of staff. Otherwise, they get cut and replaced by someone who will cut 10% of staff.
Consequently, if you have been around this board for any length of time, you encounter people who say they do nothing all day but the bare minimum. We have seen people say they have worked a lot and given a lot to this company. Should we feel empathy when the person who says they sit around and do nothing all day gets sacked?
The bottom line is that a company has to be profitable to justify labor costs. If they are inefficient, or leadership makes d-mb mistakes, we all pay for it in some form. If you don't want to be here, you have the power to jump to another fiefdom or start your own business. Unless, of course, you are too lazy to do it. Do not give me this, "I'm to old and too far into my career" thing either. Whatever happened to 50 is the new 30?
