Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

WARN ACT filing

I cannot recall the compliance requirements for the WARN act. Knowing the anticipated scope of the surplus I thought there would be some filings.

I found one for Birmingham with 23 people being impacted - https://www.madeinalabama.com/warn-list/

Let's be realistic, between cutting cost and doing the right thing, company will always go with cutting cost. Not filing will result a in slap on the wrist or a fine, no one goes to jail and nobody cares.

Go to your union meeting and state your concerns then if no movement. Make sure to vote new Leadership in and send a message.

No WARN Act if:

If a plant closing or a mass layoff results in fewer than 50 workers losing their jobs at a single employment site;
If 50 to 499 workers lose their jobs and that number is less than 33% of the employer's total, active workforce at a single employment site;

They've legions of lawyers working all this. If there was no WARN notification, there didn't need to be one.

You could start doing your job better before the WARN notice is posted. No reason to wait.

In the West, AT&T doesnt file. They have closed corporate stores, call centers, corporate offices and garages.

The union nor the state holds them accountable.
