Thread regarding Ford layoffs

RTO

If you have been instructed to RTO, when did RTO begin for you? What is your Org? How many days a week are you required to come in? Can you pick your days? Is your team back in its pre-COVID office space? Do you have your own desk/office/cube?

I drove by VOGO and noticed that the front office space has been gutted, you can see clear through the building from front to back. Asked a friend in manufacturing if he was going back to the office, he said they have not been given direction yet. I told him that our last office MDC had been sold. He hadn't heard about the VOGO renovations and said they would probably end up at PDC or Rotunda Court.

@8iin+1kCtZI7K DF said 3 days off the cuff during a townhall so that number doesn't surprise me.

Get back in the office. What a bunch of entitled lazy WFH staff! You are living with your head in the sand if you think this laziness will be allowed to continue much longer. If more LL5s are needed to supervise this return to work, then let's do it!

@8zgu+1kCtZI7K Had an LL3 tell me that when RTO happens it will be a 4 days a week in office expectation. He also suggested this is coming from the very top. There were rumors that it was specific LL2s, but no, he said it's right from Bill and Jim.

Take it for what it's worth.

@7voa+1kCtZI7K For me, there are definitely more distractions in the office than at home. I know some people who have the opposite case. Quit making blanket statements like you know what everyone's situation is.

@3dsl+1kCtZI7K I have heard the same request but no one can answer how many days is "enough" to satisfy upper management.

It was "not like that" in Michigan.

I drove at night all the time right by cops. Never had one stop me.

Ugh, can we please stop the virtue signaling about being in a physical location with other people for work?

I get it - some jobs by nature of the job require a physical seat every day. Many do not. And to preach all this flexibility post-COVID and sell WFH to out of state colleagues, then just change and expect everyone to start hybrid in 2 weeks, is a huge shock. 2 weeks is not enough time to adjust lifestyles built since 2020 and not in the spirit of the approved work patterns they lauded about all last year.

@7cpz+1kCtZI7K Seriously? What country or state were you during 2020? In MI, police would stop you if you were driving at night. No letter from an "essential" business authorizing you to be out at night for working purposes = fine.

@7cpz

It was like that in MI. I'm sure that I wasn't the only one who went about their business as usual regardless.

Why would you need a letter to drive during early COVID?

In my group we where never allowed to work from home and we received the letters to drive during the ridiculous stay home order. Get off your asssssssss and come to work. Sooner or later they will just cut your position. Then you can stay home and collect a free check but that wont pay for your coffee.

There are a lot of us that had to come to work over a year or two ago. Stop whining and come in and get the work done. There are less distractions at coming into the office and it's easier to explain issues when you are actually in the same room with the person.

@2mzw+1kCtZI7K That we don't talk about it, doesn't mean is not happening. Several groups, including mine, received a "soft" RTO request. A couple of LL6s, faced with the questions of the employees, said someone higher in the chain wants to see people in the office. For now is a request to be on site for "collaboration", and the LL6s are thinking of making weekly team meetings at the office, to "check the box". However, we were told that if the soft approach doesn't work, and the numbers at the office don't improve, we'd be imposed to RTO a (unknown) number of days weekly.

@2mzw - my manger was told two days ago that he had to come in today. Didn't sound very optional.

Interesting...no posts from anybody who has actually been called back to the office. Must not be the disaster people whine about.
