Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Rant...

Verizon is in this situation because of poor leadership, which was replaced with poor leadership, which is now being replaced by more poor leadership.

Just once, has any of these feckless leaders held themselves responsible? I mean they blame the economy, they blame COVID, they blame the employees. But they never take responsibility.

Isn't that literally in the credo?

But, it is the employees who will suffer. Hans will never have to worry about buying groceries, or losing thier home or paying medical expenses. Neither will Dan. They care about nothing and no one else.

The are typically sociopaths (and yes, there are peers reviewed scientific studies that show this).

Just once...

Seriously. It’s crazy that one individual (referencing our current and CEO) can pocket MILLIONS of dollars … while 15,000 employees (maybe up to 30,000 all in?) are left without jobs.

I saw this coming a mile away. The fu--ing guy all but said it during the internal intro webcast. I started actively applying that night. The job market is sh---y right now, but honestly if you can find a comparable job elsewhere I’d take it regardless if you’re impacted by this layoff or not. If you thought 20242025 was rough, 2026 is going to be an absolute nightmare of a year for Verizon.

The company’s been progressively declining since Hans took over as CEO 7 years ago. Whether Dan can turn it around remains to be seen. There’s always “fat to be trimmed” in any large org, but if this guy hasn’t figured out our downfall was a result of poor leadership decisions, bad operations/customer support (when we were at one time one of it not the best at both in the telco industry), a lack of investment in improving systems and efficiencies, etc.

@a1 this company? No sir, capitalism in general.

Dodge Vs. Ford motor co. - The Michigan Supreme Court in that state ruled that a companies role is to benefit their stockholders (1919).

This isn’t something new guys, this has been going on for decades. The shareholder’s pocket is the only interest of the C-suites.

Not sure what the answer is? But clearly capitalism only favors a certain few in society. Take into account Dan, $50M in 2 years? When 4-5 generations combined won’t ever see that amount
