Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

VSP

I took VSP last year. It was a good decision. If you are given an opportunity, do your math and it may work well for you as well. I know this is not for everyone as people are in different states of career or personal growth, but if you are thinking about it, I'd encourage you to take it.

My stress levels went down 90% and I was able to cut my expenses to the point that I am comfortable. I also found another job that does not pay as well but it covers my decreased expenses. Granted, I am close to retirement and the math just worked out.

Good luck!!!!!

I got lucky , after 29 1/2 years ,I took the VSP and was in the first group in September 2024 at 62 My Verizon Health care runs out the end of November and if i want to continue it it will be out of pocket. I am covering the last 22 months till i turn 65 and qualify for Medicare with VA health care. Still have a good chunk of my payments from the VSP package left to live off of for now and haven’t touched my 401 or investments or filed for social security yet. I agree with simplifying your life remark and the reduction of stress is a great bonus. But everyone has a different situations , age and financial situation to adapt from. Work all the angles, you would be surprised whats out there to help you deal with this . I wish those the best of luck at Verizon that are going through the RIF and remember that if you are good enough at what you did for Verizon, you will find another opportunity down the road with another company.

@OP VSP isn’t happening. Wish it was. RIF will soon be implemented.

The last two VSP packages were 3 weeks/year of service capped at 60 weeks. Benefits for the same number of weeks as severance. Standard severance is 2 weeks/year of serviced capped at 35 weeks (for band 6 and below).

What's coming will not be voluntary.
