Yards are starting to get more bare.
Nobody wants to ship by rail anymore for now.
Old article! At the UP, it's not about actually moving freight anymore. It's about seeking bigger investor returns while moving the minimum amount of freight as possible. That trend or that article isn't going to change how Vena runs the railroad. Nothing will change until Vena gets removed permanently from the industry, PSR becomes a banned business model, or both. The investors need to have their wings clipped as well. Yes they're part owners of the company, but why is every decision at the company coming from the investors? Why does the company even need a CEO or any executive if the investors are making all of the decisions? The industry is falling apart because of the investors desire to inject their Wall Street sock puppets into CEO positions, just so they can make millions by making their new CEO do what THEY want! The carload decline was to be expected when you pull cars and locomotives out of service, so the article was fully expected and pointless at the same time. I just didn't think that a professor would've taken this long to figure that out!
