Can UHG PR team get this whole forum shut down?

If/when the government eliminates ACA, how will it impact layoffs at Optum?

I have little faith in the US government to stop H1B, stop layoffs, or improve any part of my life. I envision the funds being put into some fee-heavy accounts opened by the feds and managed by the usual suspects like UHG.

But I am glad you have some hope OP.

These insurers and health consulting companies are on borrowed time. It’s a shame there is nowhere else hiring. I am envious of those who got the buyout packages.

@aa Agreed this would scale back OI/OT. They are being combined as Optum AI with OI product and much of commercial going away and OT is getting streamlined.

Most Providers would be fine, they'd be better off if billing were simpler. One Medicare fee schedule nationally. Most payments in cash directly from patients. Easy. People would get excess/indemnity coverage for emergencies in amounts over $10k, $20k, etc. This is a boon for every insurer.

It would be the same as now where Payers make patients pay so much out of pocket. You'd just cut the middle man and billing. It's a win-win

This would probably ki-l off OI and OT entirely. Well not this alone but the move towards directly funding consumer accounts.

The $1,000 a month or whatever they are going to get won’t cover sh-t either so there is gonna be enormous pressure on doctors filing bankruptcy due to only getting $1,000 max on complex procedures who won’t be as willing to pay Optum’s insane fees or funny business.

The dude talking about us being a government contractor at Optum is correct. The BS they spew about this or that private client is almost all nonsense. 99% of the business is government or clinics/hospitals that cease to exist when needed Medicare and Medicaid cuts to benefits and reform take place.

The worse news is all major employers in MN are laying people off. From banks to industrial. And having Optum/UHG on a resume is as appealing as applying to a major movie with a po-n background. We are all sc--wed.

@a7 Keep on deleting! Can't hid it forever buddy!

SH got his golden parachute, he'll be fine. He's getting public cover as his life's work is a failure and house of cards and can blame the government

@a7 SH already has his golden parachute. Trump is giving him an out so SH can blame the government for the failure of his life's work to hide the reality that it was intrinsically a house of cards.

We make the full MLR on premiums plus Optum's profits so like 20% of healthcare spend. Optum HSA is what 1% of spend? Not a good trade.

SH is buddies with Donald. Lives by him. UHG and Optum will be fine. He will give him a solid gold HSA card to get the exclusive rights to administer the HSAs.

Now for us working there? Better off moving to Hyderabad or Manila. 70-80% of the workforce will be located there in the coming years.

@a4 have you looked at Optum HSA the features compared to other options? without their employer forcing it, no one would pick it. Same as UHC insurance

@a3 Thank you UHG PR for weighing in.

UHC's performance impacts Optum capital investment and RIFs. UHG is a shell game to "goose" UHC margin. Make Optum compete for UHC business and also make Optum feel pain when UHC struggles. We know the double standard.

If UHC loses 3 million ACA lives it impacts Optum products sold to UHC. If non-UHC ACA lives dry up, it absolutely means Optum's payer clients will cut back.

100% elimination of ACA impacts Optum jobs.

Optum would stand to gain if the article’s suggestion pans into reality. These funds would be in HSAs assumedly, which we administer.

Optum? Very little. Medicare is the golden goose. Medicaid cuts with OBBA were a big part of layoffs the last few months and going forward. Optum isn’t big in ACA servicing.

Maybe UHC but this isn’t a UHC forum.

If you work for UHG you work at a government contractor. Period. Nothing you do here is for anything other than dispensing government money and taking a cut. This is not a private bank or technology/industrial enterprise. It is a government contractor and has been for 20+ years.

Calling it out clear as day: "why are we sending billions in subsidies to insurance companies when we could just give the money directly to Americans to choose their own healthcare."
