I was hoping we'd get a chance to properly enjoy the holidays but now it's clear that's not happening.

I predict you will be extra busy at work. Busier than you’ve ever been before. If you’re unlucky enough to be forced to absorb a production support role, you may be on call during Thanksgiving & Christmas. I’ve been in that boat - it makes it tough to travel and spend time with family.
It will be dark and cold for the rest of the year.
Depends on what you mean. Morale will be awful I’m sure. Plus the extra work.
