Thread regarding Kroger Co. layoffs

Were some people asked to re-interview for their own positions in the last round?

An acquaintance said he was asked to interview for his own position, but he already had something lined up and refused. He was one of the lucky ones who actually wanted to be cut. But is this something that happens? I don’t understand the point of it. I don’t see why he’d lie to me, but I honestly can’t figure out why they’d do that.

I can't speak for the current round, but I was asked to as part of Transformation.
I indicated that I had no desire to stay at Kroger, so don't bother, but they insisted that I do. Ok, fine.
So they had someone interview me who worked closely with me, and had backstabbed me numerous times while working together.
And another guy who asked completely inappropriate personal questions.
As though "Transformation" wasn't insulting enough, this was over the top.
I found the whole thing ironic. Interviewing for a job I didn't want, with people I didn't like.
Fine, I'll stop shopping at Kroger, too. Which I did. I haven't been inside a Kroger store for at least four years at this point. And I don't miss it. There are better options.
Nor do I miss working at Kroger. Underpaid, overworked, and reporting to a set of incompetent self-serving managers - the higher up you go, the less competence you'll find.
