Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

RIF 950

While we don't know exact count, rumour and water cooler chats are a buzz about ~1k cuts at each location / BU.

Majority of these are are level 6,7,8, squad leads, scrum masters and few 4,5 to make it seem random "business strategy alignment"

Sick joke, FU Bob 🖕🏻

Many have given much of their lives/dedication to Fidelity. Fidelity isn’t what it was years ago…you are just a number and when your number (your costs) are too high they will cut without hesitation. Ned and his team were personable and approachable and committed. You might ask where did the culture go…starts at the top. Wonder whether to much focus has been placed on getting rid of the boys club (read white male employees). Arrogance, silver spoon off spring IDK. Girls club now maybe with catfights and a twisted view. Is what it is…unsightly to see so many people miserable at work.

@bv ah look at that, the same racist dude is back again...

Either you're completely jobless or have way too much time on your hand.

Is that you, Ron?

@bs, agreed. Even though the areas where idinas congregate tends to be low tech I myself don't want to deal with (SQL, API ops, vendor solution admins...), the near 100% concentration of them pose a threat: a unhealthy dependency Fidelity develops over the past decades or so on them. Imagine they all went back home for whatever reasons, Fidelity IT would crumble.

To mitigate the risk, replace them with American fresh graduates who are eager to do any tech work !

@br, I'm a L7 in tech and my git commits eclipse many of our developers. If I'm cut by the algorithm, so be it.

If Abby hasn't been living under a rock, Fidelity should have a plan to cut the percentage of idians in tech.

@bp
Remember this when you climb the corporate tree and are pruned after buying a home, started a family and laid down roots in your location.

Is Fidelity middle and upper heavy, yes, but don’t wish bad on people.

Fidelity is vicious with regards to RIF.
They do anything they can to reduce headcount prior to an actual layoff.

They tend to target mid-level long time employees whom are at the high end of their pay range.

Methods used are: movement to dying projects, assigned garbage tasks, transfer to new locations, strict enforcement of RTO, no salary increases, anything to cause pain or make them angry enough to leave or retire early.

It’s a shame since many of these people have given their careers to Fidelity.

How does Fidelity streamline decisions? Cut the Middle Management!
How does Fidelity increase productivity? Cut the Middle Management!
How does Fidelity offer associates mobility? Cut the Middle Management!
How does Fidelity lift associates morale? Cut the Middle Management!
How does Fidelity sn---h up external talents laid off by big techs? Cut the Lifer Middle Management!

Go Bob, Go!
