How about the fact I am working to help a family in need. No one thought of that in the above comments. And I feel blessed I can do that with the extra income.

Hey to all haters you will be in your 60s one day too and never know your circumstances! Maybe they have kids in college to support. Also health insurance is $1000/mo, Medicare is still $200/mo. So don’t be so harsh.

To Op- yes target starts in 40s or 50s get your plan ready. And it’ll be great!

Y'all with your nasty, judgemental comments to OP, shame on you! You have no idea what that person's story is, or why they are working at 68. Nor is it any of your business!
I'm 66 years old and I'm still working my a$$ off!Not because I want to but because at 52 I went through a divorce and my ex-husband stole everything we had saved. Emptied the 401k, emptied every penny from our savings, and so I had to start over. Not a cakewalk rebuilding a life in your 50's. So maybe have some humanity, and some compassion and don't jump to conclusions on where people are at their stage in life. Sheesh!

@ab

You don’t know his situation
I know someone who’s 55 and was laid off twice in a 8 year period

If you’re 68 working because you need the money then you’ve done a horrible job at saving and investing over the years…harsh but true

If you are a sales executive and closing deals for IBM, it is unlikely.
If not closing deals worth at least 5-10 times your base pay, then yes.
