Thread regarding NCR Corp. layoffs

TIMBER!!!!!

The new CEO is working out well lol. No telling what we gave up to keep Chipotle as a customer so we could announce that on Earnings today to try and salvage a horrendous quarter.

@261 Actually, small operations paid the full boat price on maintenance coverage.
They had no leverage to negotiate a better maintenance rate. NCR tried to move away from its traditional customer and paid the price. As compared to at the time (K-Mart -JCP etc. etc.) When Wal-Mart started demanding cost reductions each contract renewal the writing was clearly on the wall.

https://capitaloneshopping.com/research/mall-closure-statistics/

Malls are closing, these numbers in the link above, they are alarming, if you are in a mall most stores are running off tablets, Voyix doesn’t have anything to compete, and the service side is null.
.
if you can’t see it you got you head in the sand

@1h hourly rate was $54 when I started. Was $89 in mid 80’s when I moved to SE doing restaurants and grocery store Software.
Covered malls are fewer, but open air malls are coming back. Have 3 new ones in my area (central Ohio) in last few years.
When NCR walked away from smaller users (mom and pop if you will), growth stalled. Some mo--n forgot that many small business grow into multi-locations over time.

@c7 And the ship is taking on massive amounts of water. New CEO and most of ELT need to go and they need to promote everyone from within and the company will finally start doing better.

Business change - and malls are closing so what's your point? if you serviced equipment in the early 70's (OK). Let me remind you NCR priced itself out of the market tell me what the hourly rate was, at that time. Many lawyers would have been jealous.

Non NCR mall is very sad but honest example of NCR’s fall from grace. In 70’s and 80’s the malls here (3 of them) were about 80% NCR. During holidays could spend entire day there fixing things.

Walking throng a busy mall today, out of all the stores in the entire mall I could only find 2 NCR still services, Dollarama and Sephora.
Retail has dried up for service.

All of you that hit the negative arrow on that guy's glass house comments. sort of hits home doesn't it. Most of the field "talent" left is simply not that talented. Otherwise, you would have already left the building. Get over yourself(s).

They used to say, "those who can't, teach". Now it's more like "those who can't, manage."

And of course, the famous one, "sh!t floats".
