Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Quarterly Report Published

ConocoPhillips quarterly report was just published. From the highlights a couple things stand out to me... Very high exposure to US shale in L48 and $5 billion more in planned divestitures for 2026 are on track.

What's getting sold next that can generate $5 billion? Underperforming US assets? Someone else speculated Montney?

One of the assets I think they’ll try and offload are the Bakken assets we acquired from MRO associated with the Three Tribes. Just speculating though.

Listen to the analyst call. Ryan says the rest will come from non strategic L48 assets.
They already sold 3B. There is only 2B of new divestitures left.

They're looking to pull out of Canada completely. Suncor is itching to get their hands on Surmont. By this time next year it will be sold or in the process of being sold. Montney as well.
Those that survived this round bought themselves some time but they should be prepared.

What’s getting sold? Probably something that was just recently bought and overpaid for like always.

Buy assets high and sell them low, the same motto that’s been used for a long time and the same one that spurred MRO to throw a for sale sign in the yard.

Doubt a major divestiture will happen before at least another $10B acquisition. SM has put everyone on the clock.
