Wow so much for the press release excuse
Arvind, Dinesh, James, Rob, Nickle, Joanne and Mohamed have been trying to put lipstick on a pig for the benefit of IBM clients. It isn't working.
Because IBM is not an AI company. WatsonX is a joke, you can download free software like LM Studio and Ollama that does exactly what WatsonX does but better and free. Granite is on not a single AI Leaderboard. Orchestrate is ancient technology with multiple layers of lipstick applied. Consulting has RAed/PIPed 90% of their AI talent over the last year. The billions of dollars of GenAI revenue that IBM reports is just people tagging old consulting projects as GenAI because the PM uses ChatGPT to write the weekly status report. When Wall Street finally figures out it's all fake the stock will be under $150 the next day.
The most recent appointment of leadership in Jan 2025 was not good for anyone in design, marketing or product. These leaders do not understand how these role work nor how their demise will lead to non-competitive products being launched. Even before this nobody knew how to collaborate with these teams.
The message is clear since Dinesh took ownership of software - Developer driven culture at any cost.
Agile and Design Thinking culture are driven out at IBM, but Indian Consulting BS mantras are now business as usual. It starts right at the top with Comrade Alvind, Walrus Joanne Wright and the educationally challenged Krabanaugh.
