Layoff season is here

Looks like it’s layoff season again — folks at Truist have been getting hit last week and this week. Hope everyone lands on their feet!

@ch But we did our job at home and we STILL had to come in the two days, then the three days and then the four days and now the five days. It’s so frustrating seeing people in OUR OWN DEPARTMENT but with a different manager let their employees come in and then leave at 12 to finish the day at home. Everyone should have to do the same thing regardless of the manager or department.

Layoff season? Like hunting season or ski season? I don’t think so, around here it is “open season” on layoffs, happens quietly all the time. Usually for those that have been here the longest and make more money than incompetent new hires or offshore.

Another Purpose Corner! Purposeful performance buzzword flywheel—yep, it’s that time of the month again! Care! PMV! Purpose-driven organization! The best teammates in the industry! Stack those hands, team! We’re on offense! Meanwhile, this whole circus runs like a pyramid scheme with Bill at the top, spewing the same tired platitudes and rhetoric month after month. Not sure what value Bill adds to the bank 🤔

@OP well yes….. that’s what’s driving the 5 day RTO.
My only suggestion is to ride out the rough waves, some people will unfortunately leave and just like everything else in this place, it will fizzle out once the bank makes their numbers. I can almost guarantee you that short of somebody living within 15 min of their office, nobody will be in 5 days a week.
Same thing happened with 3 days and 4 days. That lasted for all of a few weeks and people did what they wanted anyway afterwards. It’s a scare tactic. If you’re working from home or hybrid , just do your job and don’t give them a reason to have to look at your productivity. It’s simple.

Of course. I fully suspect they will layoff all of the remaining onshore call center staff and then replace them with cheaper, largely Unintelligible offshore staff, unlike they're replaced by AI.

It’s been here. Lots of good folks in my LOB laid off last month. We are a mess But hey. We paid consultants millions to Ben’s us over and lay off dozens of people. They got their millions. Bill can say hey it wasn’t us, it was the consultants. All collect their bonus. That’s corporate America.
