Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

WRITE YOUR LOCAL NEWS- COLORADO

We’ve reached out to every news station, letting them know what’s really going on with Chevron. It’s only a matter of time before the truth comes out.
Chevron has spent millions on advertising, painting themselves as the heroes of our community. You’ve seen it: the feel-good commercials, the Facebook and Instagram posts, the Nextdoor updates showing their “volunteer work.” They want everyone to believe they’re here to support Northern Colorado.
But behind the scenes, they’ve quietly pushed out the very people who built this industry. They’ve replaced local, hardworking men and women—many with decades of experience—with workers brought in from out of state or out of the country. Families who once had stable, good-paying jobs are now struggling, while Chevron counts record profits.
Call it capitalism if you want. I call it what it really is—a monopoly and absolute bullsh-t.
Another billion-dollar corporation swoops in, buys out smaller companies, and leaves local workers in the dust. It’s not about community. It’s not about sustainability. It’s about control and profit, and it’s time people start seeing it for what it is.
The truth always comes out. And it’s only a matter of time before Chevron’s shiny PR mask starts to crack.

Reality slaps- you are as stupid as your name! 😂 let me guess KSI employee or upper management at Chevron? It’s a hobby for me now to get it to the news; maybe cause chevrons PR team some stress if nothing else.
IM SURE THE LOCAL COMMUNITIES THEY DONATE BIKES TOO ARE GOING TO BE SUPER SATISIFED WHEN THE PARENTS ARE OUT OF WORK. more layoffs are coming- get ready Chevron employees. I guess the constant phone monitoring, cameras in the cars, and treating employees like sh-t still isn’t enough for people to walk away.

@a5 don’t act hard. I’ve worked at companies big and small. Most institutionalized CVX people wouldn’t last a day in smaller companies. I’ve watched them come in and flounder when things could t be solved with a slogan or acronym.

@c1 BM literally said we are going to go to the “take chances and increase risk” model in today’s S&TB model. This reflects the major cuts in wells early this month.

@fd funny, I got like. 25% raise when coming to Chevron and I’m still losing money. Why? Because we had huge bonuses and stock options when we hit our corporate objectives for production, safety, ext.

PDC staff were overly compensated and took a big pay cut. Most AEOI'd out to get their PDCE severance, which was far more lucrative than the Chevron or Noble (2020) packages. Remember when someone put "Noble and CVX su-ks" in a town hall Q&A?

Yep. We know where this is coming from.

@eq the community will still be there, just new management, some new folks will move in and some of the deadwood will be stripped out.

So your goal is to "remove the mask" and have the "truth come out" in the media. Ok then what? Chevron is free to do business with their choice of vendors. They will spend their money as they see fit. It's as simple as that. The effect you will have is zero, nill, nada. The PR styled, warm-hearted commercials and public support events will continue rest assured, Chevron has a well-funded marketing department. You are pi---d off about things that you have absolutely no influence or control over. Move on and seek prosperity where you can find it. Things change and so must your means of earning income and/or doing business. Might I suggest finding new ways to excel at your personal craft (whatever that may be). Seek out alternative sources of income, diversify, learn new skills, improve your service offerings. Bi--hing won't pay the bills. Roll up your sleeves and figure it out. We are all just trying to earn a living. A single cup of water doesn't change the tides and neither will your frustration-based tirades cause Chevron to reverse course.

The blow out in April was blamed on a contractor and legacy Noble. Personally, I think Chevron chooses to not own their performance and looks to assign blame away from them. That being said, most small companies like Noble and PDC don't buy into Chevron safety and well control procedures. They have no issue taking chances and hoping for the best. It is not new to these acquisitions. Legacy Texaco and Unocal employees had a similar mindset. Get er done safely as long as it doesn't cost any money or time. When Chevron acquires companies in the future they would be better off laying off all the employees form these companies as they are not likely to change their behaviors.

oh - are they trying to cover up the BIG Bish0p debacle to make themselves look better - probably - that is one he-l uv an ept crew up there at that site - but they brought the phd $indian and others in to try and smooth things over - however they still don't know what is going on - just billing a big multi-million dollar account. Seems like all the propaganda started about the time the well blew - Chevron save the day at its finest!

Damn near everyone in Colorado is a transplant.

OP are you a PDC employee that was laid off or a local contractor who no longer has a cash cow? Either way why would any news agency care what your opinions are. Chevron legally bought PDC and PDC legally sold to Chevron. The fact that you are not happy is irrelevant.

so you have a philosophical complaint. If Chevron reverses time and does not buy Noble and PDC; someone else will. It is not Chevrons fault because they are evil, it is the way economics work. Seems you have a need to put a name to your frustration, and that's OK; but by whining, you are not going to achieve anything. Chevron today, Company X tomorrow, company Y in another industry. Try to stop it....

I’m loath to defend CVX at this point, but there is nothing nefarious going on here in CO. Incompetent yes, but OP’s grievances are empty. PDCE vendors were expensive, with shady practices. The biggest losers may be the exotic dancers in Denver. But what’s described here is just life in the Oil and Gas Big Leagues. Welcome to the show meat.
