Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Termination agreement

Have any of the folks laid off on September 3rd and covered by WARN 60 days notification period received anything today? I have been checking my email and haven't seen anything (although the final payroll payment showed on my bank account this morning).
In any case, I really appreciate all folks that have contributed to this forum. It was the first hit that showed up when I searched after being laid off, and it made me realize I wasn't alone in this new journey. I really wish the very best to all of you.

If you haven't received your severance payment yet, consider opening a new checking account with a signup bonus and notify payrolll_us immediately, so you make some additional bucks with little effort.

It's payment in lieu of warn. Standard stuff.

@ep Heads up. Your severance pay, since you had to sign away your rights to get it, will have no impact on unemployment benefits.

@ep You were either remote or based on a location where the number of laid off people didn't trigger WARN.

@a2 Am in exactly the same situarton. Am in FL. Was let go on 9/2, with end date being 9/22 also. Got my severance pay after signing the release forms and returning the laptop. Nothing said about WARN.

Received final payroll yesterday and term paperwork today. Guessing severance will take a while and be disappointing after 30% in taxes. Just another FU to the people.

@ak I'll bet you're right. Forgot about that - for some reason there I thought only some states were doing that. We might not have lost enough people to trigger it. I only know of one other person from my location who got it, the others I know were in Colorado and California.

@a2 Doesn't federal WARN only kick in when a certain percentage at a job site gets the axe?

Some states have their own WARN, which is more employee friendly.

Then there is variability in unemployment benefits. In some states the max is about $900 a week for 26 weeks. In some states its only in the $300's for 13 weeks.

@a2 Thanks for your reply. I am in CA, and my termination date is today, but I haven't received anything to sign yet. I sent the laptop back ages ago

I was laid off the day after Labor Day - was that the 2nd or 3rd?

I don't know anything about WARN for when I was let go (I'm in Florida). As far as I know all my stuff is done. I got full pay and benefits until Sept 22, when I got the email with the forms attached - one of those needed signing so I could get my severance. I returned my computer the following week when I got the mailer, a few days later I got my severance pay. I wrote to Payroll to get my last paystub for the severance and was given a secure download. A week or so later I got the paystub in the mail.

As far as I know there is nothing left to do. Obviously benefits and pay have been cut off, I signed the doc stating I wasn't going to sue them, got my final pay stub.

Like I said, I might not have been covered by WARN, being in Florida, so I got nothing today (at least not yet, it's 3pm ET). Not sure what we would get if we WERE covered by WARN. What are you expecting?
