Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

In Office Policy & RIF non-directional locations

Is it true the that Verizon wants to RIF most employees in non-directional locations in late 2026 and 2027 as part of the broader strategy to go lean?

Now that we have three main directional locations, Dan wants to accelerate the plan to shutdown real estate in non-directional locations (cost reduction), make 5 days in office and then start removing the employees in non directional locations. Of course some key ones would be asked to relocate.

This is probably not the case for the RIF this month but coming in 2026!

real estate folks have been looking into consolidation over the last two years. yes, this is going to be accelerated now. no idea what it would lead to but you can do the math..

@dr
Bootlicker Guy is the one responsible for all the anti RTO posts here. He used to call anyone who wasn't rabidly anti RTO, "bootlicker". He mostly stopped when we started calling him Bootlicker Guy. You can still tell it's him by his writing style and patterns, though. He also knows that you can vote an infinite number of times by clearing your history. He will upvote pro WFH and downvote anti WFH posts ad-nausium. He's always saying how cutting edge WFH is and how archaic RTO is. He's also a bit of a germophobe as he posts a lot about how gross it is to interact with others.

I'd usually recommend Bootlicker Guy get a cat. But, something tells me he's already got 20 or more. I don't think another one is the answer.

You'll see 5 days RTO as part of the playbook to not have to pay severance. Strategically it should be done before RIFs or at the latest with any VSP offering (carrot and stick).

If Verizon required 5 days in the office that would be a sure fire way to reduce the workforce without having to rif and pay severances

5 days in the office.... I knew this was coming. When are these Corp. execs going to align with the times. They want to stick with the old IBM model except when it comes to pensions, raises, etc. Yet they are steadfast on modernizing technology and implementing AI to reduce jobs. Are they going to run Corp. America like we are in the 60s or 2025. They can't have it both ways. Wake up America, our gov't is no longer for "the PEOPLE", it's for THOSE people (the $1B class). Stop supporting these parties, they are dividing and conquering year over year.

Oh man! 5 days in the office would NOT be good. That’s a surefire way to get employees to resign. I’m updating my resume this weekend so I can start applying to other companies.
