Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Culture shift

I used to feel like I belonged here. Over time, I noticed a shift. As a woman of color who consistently delivers results and drives impact, I have seen differences in how respect and recognition are given. I have watched white peers with lighter performance receive more support and praise, while my contributions were often minimized. I also noticed cultural dynamics where questioning decisions—especially when coming from women of color—was not welcomed.

These experiences do not erase the good people and positive moments, but they do make me reflect on how far we still have to go in equity and inclusion. I hope leadership listens, because talent and value exist across all backgrounds, and organizations thrive when every voice can be seen and respected.

@mm it’s called disguise. I send a lot of emails and I know for a fact my management is in the chat watching. They are scared and they have been asking questions to everyone on site about this chat. Now everyone is throwing others under the bus. Be careful out there. Beverage market is getting hit soon. I hate to say it but poor management has led us to destruction from the inside out.

@mm Calm down....fat figured it. DEI is a two-edged sword. It all depends on who is at the top of the food chain. In PepsiCo's environment, India personnel are at the top. You're only going to get India DEI promotions. The rest will suffer.

It hurts, but it's the truth. This isn't for or against a race; it's a matter of a fact.

DFW Airport had the same problem with Haitians (DEI). They were responsible for hiring staff for DFW Airport's janitorial services. Guess who they only hired?! That stopped when the State of Texas did an investigation and fired everyone.

@OP I seen the opposite of what you are saying they even posted a sign that said ALL future promotions will be given to BLACK/Asian employees until 30%+ of management is achieved. So yes Pepsi does just try to make a quota and yes it is unfair and yes a lot of people no Matter what they look like get held back. I have 2 bachelor degrees and I haven’t been let into management. It really is who you know and who you b10w. Upper management and middle management in relations is common and frontline and supervisors in relationships is very common. This is how promotions are earned at Pepsi. Seen it first hand.

@gf especially ironic the DEI policies led to said management getting in charge. Giant self own/karma in the end. Said management now dismantling DEI and themselves getting cut.

I love your original post and appreciate it. I'm a while male and do not use color as a criterion of success. Do you have what you takes or not? It's based on your performance. No more, no less.

Here's your issue. The people who are running the show here at PepsiCo come from a country where women are suppressed. They're required to cover up, eat in different rooms, and can't do anything until their husband gives them permission. That's a fact.

That mentality bleeds into their work ethic. You have to do more than your male counterpart to get recognized. If you make a mistake, it's magnified more than your male counterpart. They don't ask you to go to lunch. If you want to be promoted and there's an equal male candidate, they'll get favored over you.

Summarize - It's their country's culture, and that's how they treat females over there. Not how we have done it here in the US since the 50's. You just have to recognize you've got a huge hill to climb here at PepsiCo and I don't see it changing anytime soon.

Wow that's rich a person who checks all DEI boxes complaining that whites get more praise? As one of those employees that can't check any boxes I have watched my whole career people get promoted and praised with less ability, less work ethic and less seniority than myself or my peers! Maybe we should all reflect and put the blame squarely on the shoulders of Sr Leadership and Sr HR who has since abandoned ship!!

@bz LinkedIn now full of folks benefitted from all these policies now out of a job. No one can afford what's happening, and every manager of people is terrified of having people on their team underperform. Normalization in process.

The DEI policies that PepsiCo put in place the last 5-8 years. Promoting people on how they looked versus competence has led to the tragic fall of the organization to the point of no repair. There needs to be a culture shift and mass exodus of leadership especially all of the HR leadership for the mess they made. This site is for layoff related posts go somewhere else and post your woke feelings. You are an example why the organization is where it is. Nobody cares what gender or ethic background you have. It’s a job to the best you can take care of your family. If that is not good enough go work somewhere else.

Equality feels like discrimination when you're used to privilege. Maybe it's time for you to reflect.
