Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Are you thinking of leaving?

Anyone here thinking about leaving if you survived yesterday? Would it be wise to keep eyes open for new opportunities?

It’s always wise to keep an eye out for opportunities outside of Target. Target is not the be all end all. But corporations are the same. Target is not being unfair or unfeeling. It’s business. Not personal. That’s how the world works kids!

I gotta laugh at the responses. A perfectly good question about if Target is a good place to work now, or people should look elsewhere.

And instead? People turn it into a political fight over two people that they've almost certainly never even met.

@an I doubt BC will leave until Trump leaves office as he probably owns that relationship with DJT. He lives in FL so makes sense.

I don’t think MF has pull with MAGA he’s too midwestern nice and soft and mediocre.

My takeaway is they are going to make the bank take over the card and loyalty program or outsource it. All the leadership is gone. Current heads have background in cutting costs around the company or closing stores. TNC is going to be a ghost town this time next year. I predict another wave once MF takes over formally. And another when BC leaves the board.

You should always keep your eyes open for new opportunities, and even apply and interview, when you're happily employed. Target is a good company, but you're not married to it. And it will be much easier to get a new job when you've been through the process and have sharp skills and a fresh resume.

Yes, I am thinking of leaving. I was really hoping to be let go and was disappointed to be kept. When I think about the rebuilding that's needed, my heart just isn't in it. I wish they'd offer smaller targeted buyouts instead of doing these mass exercises. This basically shut the company down for about 6 days. Maybe they'll be smarter for next time - and there will certainly be a next time.

Don't take the layoff personally. You're only there to make money for the company.

I saw a post that Michael F. Is going to take TGT to $400B.

I am not of this opinion and don’t drink the koolaid like that person.

I have no faith and confidence in this leadership team to risk my personal and career well being. My resume is out and I’m applying actively since I have some leverage since I’m still employed.

Once they do layoffs again and you lose that leverage you could lose momentum you’ve built.
