Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

This Has Ruined Target’s Image

Can I just start by saying, what a complete sh-t show these last few days have been? They made us employees wait for days, ruin our mental health, and provide no information at all at how this would unfold.

Then hearing of this absolutely disgusting way of telling affected people by inviting them to a webinar, they disabled the chat, and the meeting audio not working? Wtf!

The icing on the cake is my manager just chatted our whole team and asked if we were safe from the layoffs…like, hello? Our management doesn’t even know if their teams are affected?

Whoever is in charge of this better be fired for their complete incompetence. What a damn embarrassment for the company. The new ceo, the board, and the executive team should be ASHAMED!

@a5 Layoffs are sadly the norm now. Amazon laid off 14k people today. CVS is laying off talent today. UPS laid 30k+ so far this year. Paramount slashing 1000 people tomorrow. Meta is laying off 600 this week. Terrible, but sadly seems to be part of life now.

@a5 got "too comfortable?" right, because the goal in any workplace is for their employees to feel "uncomfortable." This is peak LinkedIn aspirational bro bullsh-t. If we wanted to be uncomfortable every day we walked into the office we'd work for Jeff Bezos.

Have to disagree... Layoffs are always messy and it is just part of the corporate world unfortunately. It was a VERY long time since Target last had major announced layoffs and people become very comfortable. I get the sense that this likely how future layoffs will be for a lot of other companies.

@OP it really has. I was watching Fox9 Morning News and the way they covered this story, you could hear in the anchors' voices how gross it was that the Target employees had to stew all weekend, mentioning how it had been a very long weekend for Target workers.
