I believe in layoffs - they are the natural way of cleansing in unadulterated nature.
Let there be layoffs!
Its near than you think, I am seeing signs and hearing about mass layoffs soon.
not sure if any of this is 'popular', at least not from a worker's perspective.
lol... Dell was at roughly 130k last year or the year before and now we are at I believe slightly under 100k. Amazon also has 1.5 MILLION employees worldwide so 30k is literally not even a fraction of the employee force for them...
Dell does seem to follow suit with Amazon and Tesla though. Tesla was the first BIG company to implement the 5 day in office policy, then google followed suit, then at some point... Dell said "well this is what other guys are doing so, I want to be popular too!" And did the same thing. Even though Dell had had a 3 day in office/2 at home policy for over 20 years pre-covid.
Dell simply did what the big dogs were doing to fit in.
Typically Amazon does it first and we copycat 3 months later. See RTO for example.
@c5 wish dell gives same package
Also turns out it wasn't really 30k. It's 14k, with redeployment of the other 16k over the next three months and those who can't find a job are then let go. 3 months is pretty generous, way way more than Dell will ever give.
no worries, JR wasn't actually crunching the AI (Amazon apparently was), turns out this saved us, just like Chit at the end of season 1.. success!
If Dell hires 10K H1B first, then yea
Dell has been doing this for years. Amazon is just stating the layoffs as opposed to hiding it.
this won't help with the US unemployment numbers.
Dell is way ahead of them.
