Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Contemplating staying

If I survive tomorrow, I’m contemplating moving on or finding something new. I feel like this company is never going to recover. Is this rash thinking or do others feel the same? There just is no clear path to recovery.

It's like this everywhere. Everywhere.

@OP A guideline I've always followed is stay until you find an environment, challenge, culture, flexibility, stability, pay - whatever brings you most joy and says "this is the place for me." People interview so much more confidently when they already have a job vs need a job.

@op Things feel insane in here and rightly so… and I think we we all would agree things could have been handled 1000 times better. But one look in the other company threads and you’ll realize everywhere is a 💩 show right now as well (if you really wanna feel a modicum better check out Amazon threads… my heart goes out to them too)

If after tomorrow you find yourself employed (I hope that you are!) I think you are presented with something wonderful - the gift of choice. See what the day after tomorrow brings, if it’s not where you see you career heading then it’s ok to look elsewhere and leave on your own terms, or you might find those left behind make some real change happen (candidly I’m also optimistic for what midterms will bring…).
My point is you can absolutely handle your next move with nuance! It doesn’t have to be black or white or even soon.

SENDING LOVE TO ALL… I have to log off of here for my mental health!

The days of company loyalty are long over because they don't give us anything to be loyal for. Start interviewing; there is something better out there for you. Just expect it to take a while.

5 years in HQ, whether I’m laid off or not,
I’m leaving. This isn’t the place I fell in love with when I first started, I was once proud and haven’t been all year. Enough is enough

Stay until you can find something else, but reasonable to want to go. The way this was handled is appalling.

The fact that all they can seem to think of is more blood sacrifices to appease wall street doesn't inspire confidence. Getting some strong Sears vibes off the company these days.

The local job market is going to be CHAOS for at least the next six months. I would stay on at least until it calms down.
