Will those on FMLA be notified tomorrow if they are laid off or will they have to wait until they return from leave to be notified?

Your leave will continue until its completion. Your role can still be eliminated though. Often your severance is based on the day you return, which is the important note.

From what I found online (not totally sure it’s true but also on mat leave so desperate) you are only protected for your exact role so if they eliminate your job or consolidate it they can lay you off.

Unfortunately no… your personal info like whether you’re pregnant, on leave, age, etc are all blinded with the decision.
