@aw that person is very unhappy and should look for another job but volunteering takes away your unemployment - too big a risk or i would have considered it ..
You should’ve volunteered. It’s really not fair to people who actually want to stay. Some of us believe in the hard work DE is doing.

Therein lies the only silver lining in being laid off.
Also, Paramount wants to consolidate and homegenize culture, while selling out to dangerous fascists, so, you can move forward without that on your conscious, too.
