@ak reading between the lines, I think it is going to be L7 Directors and L2 specialists. That is where there are the most “layers” of overlapping work. I know our buying team is already very thin in head count.

@aw Why do you feel sourcing / OB will get the deepest cut?

My $0.02 is that core merch already runs pretty lean. Yeah, there's probably some duplicative work and redundancy between Buyers and ABs and TII. But not hundreds of jobs worth. Planning is also lean. If Sourcing/OB is included within "Merch", which it typically is, I think that's where the deepest cuts will be.

Since the rumors started, people have been saying that merch will be hit hardest, and that l6 and up will bear the brunt of it. In my opinion, cutting deeper into merch—l5 and down—would be painful and maybe not super cost effective. I also don’t think the buyer role is something you can just ship off to India.

I feel the bloat shows up in a few ways:
1) having multiple buyers—ABs, buyers, sr buyers— in departments with small assortments or mostly National Brand assortments.
2) l7 roles that only manage people and don’t buy any of the assortment.
3) also ABs who don’t buy any of the assortment. I wasn’t aware of this, but some ABs just do the executional tasks. That said its still a useful role that doesn’t cost a ton so maybe not on the chopping block?

Also, merch being “hit hard” is not super specific. Theres tons of bloat in other areas of the company: ops teams, sourcing, marketing, countless other small teams that have TI counterparts.

Are we hearing any rumblings with SDE? Like the support roles that assist the call centers? Quality? Analysts (there’s a bunch of them)? Workforce Management?
Access team? Etc

Multiple news articles suggest impact is at managerial levels across the board

@OP what team are you part of?

Feeling anxious. We’re already so stretched thin, and it’s scary to think about how much heavier things could get for both our workload and everyone’s morale if more roles are cut.
