Anyone know if officers were able to review and adjust who is impacted? I would assume that’s the lowest level that could have provided guidance. It’s hard to imagine cuts being done without some level of direct knowledge.

I thought all VPs and above are officers?
@ek thanks for the explanation. I was just wondering out of curiosity. I’m not holding my breath…I was already laid off a few months ago.
@dj when I left Target, they had C-suite reporting to C-suite in some cases. I’m not sure how far down the ranks the title of Officer is held. But at some point, an Officer was able to “protect” people who might otherwise be candidates for being RIFd because they fit the profile. For instance, maybe an entire team is being RIFd, but an Officer would be able to save someone they knew would be needed for the future direction. Again, this is historical and is not a projection of what is currently happening. Ultimately, one should plan for the worst and hope for the best.
@dc this might be stupid but can you explain more? I thought the C-suite and the officers were the same at target? So the officers can protect 3 people…3 of their own people or 3 non-officers? Do they vote on this or who gets say and how do they decide who to protect?
@OP FWIW, a friend of mine is a retired C-suite. He told me once that the officers can protect up to 3 people. So they may not know who all are leaving, but they know who are staying.
