Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Performance driven?

Does anyone have insight into whether or not performance reviews will factor into decision making or is it just algorithm based or what?

Yes OP, your terrible performance will definitely be factored into the door hitting your a$$ on the way out

Large layoffs like these are always messy. Good people will get let go — that’s just the way it is. Most managers (VP and below) have no control over what’s happening; they’re just being told what’s going on. The VPs may know who’s being affected but have zero say in it.

A third-party firm typically comes in and evaluates various factors — tenure, performance, and more — to meet a target percentage for each division.

If you get laid off, it doesn’t mean your boss chose you or doesn’t value you.

Past layoffs that I experienced - the large scale layoffs - were decided based on title and seniority with the company within that title. Those with less seniority let go and those remaining shuffled to new areas regardless of experience in that team. Creates its own issues.

I highly doubt it will be performance driven.. Based on the messaging it's going to be a huge leadership consolidation.

Its never about performance. The executives would have been the first to get laid off.
