Thread regarding Marathon Petroleum layoffs

Apart from Covid downturn in 2020/2021 realistically how often does MPC do layoffs? I only see the 2021 layoffs when I look online….

Long history with the company, no longer with them. Times are changing, the company has changed. Don't get too comfortable because a cycle is coming. Don't look to what has been done in the past. It doesn't matter. Look at what everyone else is doing and don't assume it's not coming for you, too.

Okay, 1993 again when they merged with Ashland, again before they merge with with Andeavor then they PIP you out so they don’t have to pay the full severance when eliminating your position.

@OP been here since mid-2019 and only have seen the covid layoffs. we are still hiring regularly and giving out large bonuses so risk seems low.
