I’m earning a little less now but I'm working under people who actually treat others with respect. No one’s nitpicking my expression or power-tripping for attention. If you’re being mistreated like that, don’t wait it out. Just leave. It’s amazing how much lighter life feels once you do.

I’m in healthcare now, far cry from the oil & gas industry. I’m also so much happier and I feel appreciated. I worked for CVX for almost 15 years. I’m always going to be grateful for the experience and friends I’ve met during my time there. But I also wished I left sooner. I endured the politics, the general uncertainty during lean times, several rounds of layoffs, PMP, etc. Sad about the move to Houston. Thinking about those who are impacted with these layoffs. There is a better work/life outside CVX. Best of luck for those who are lucky enough to be moving and those who are job searching.

The irony to go against immigrants when your jobs are being replaced by the hour by workers in India. Ice deporting people won’t make your situation better. Well, you can go and pick strawberries or hang out at home depot for jobs when you get laid off.

I too have found a breath of fresh air with a company that wants creative thinking, has a vision, and not filled with a bunch of back stabbing, immature leaders that make up cr-p on your PMP. Good riddance to Chevron.
