Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

I used to think I had a future in oil and gas

As it turns out, that career path was just a revolving door disguised as opportunity. You blink, and the next round of layoffs wipes out another crew. It’s too bad we all bought into the stability myth. All of us should’ve seen the writing on the wall much sooner.

Just wait until you find out what NOV is going to be paying you then you will rethink oilfield pay.

@bn Exactly!! See it for what it is. Enjoy the high paycheck while we are in instable times in the industry.

I remember back in 2015 Weatherford was hiring all kinds of people at extremely high salaries bcz they couldn't attract talent due to shaky financials. If you took the fools gold, you made good money for a year and then company went bankrupt. Look at how many times company has been reorganized.

You bought into the stability myth when you were initially hired and started receiving your extremely high annual salary, VCIP, and other compensation. Non-stability is the very reason you were paid so much.
