Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Any truth to another round of layoffs in Oregon mid November

Has anyone else heard that rumor from Oregon about more layoffs coming in mid-November? I’m trying to figure out if there’s any truth to it. The only thing I’ve actually heard from people I work with is that some teams are merging and a few folks are being moved around. That could easily explain some of the chatter.

So when I saw a Reddit thread claiming that a supervisor told a tech “more layoffs are coming,” I wasn’t sure how much weight to give it. There’s been so much speculation lately that it’s hard to tell what’s legit and what’s just people trying to fill in the blanks. Has anyone heard anything?

Confirmed today. Relative was just let go this morning over the phone, as well as a few others from the same team.

10ish% for a specific org, announcement was supposed to go out this week and should be gone by mid december..... They missed their target last time and are recouping the loss. Soooo, not great.

@cs OP here, I wouldn’t have to wear the orange vest, but I’d definitely have to switch back to healthcare administration, where I still have solid options. The catch is that it would mean moving to another state, and that’s not something our family is exactly thrilled about.

There won't be any layoffs, but the holidays are the traditional riot season in Portland, so a lot of people take vacation time to gear up and toss bricks and various incendiary devices for a month or so.

Then it is back to work, till next season.

Intel has just changed their wording… well Naga. Naga said no more cuts but that outsourcing would continue… despite CHIPs funding to keep jobs here. Outsourcing means jobs will be moved to another country where the operational cost is lower. This equates to job loss here and job gain in another country. Are we done hurting yet? Everyone who stays at Intel is going to need some major therapy after the last few years.

There will be many people leaving at the end of November. That CPM list is being prepared at the moment.

Some groups went quickly and did the masters bidding, some whined and cried and now they’ll have to cut their dead weight, nobody can escape the 15%.

Call DZ for emergency respond. He said Intel will break even until 2027 so more layoffs continue until then.
