For non technical people like me, is Roche a real threat that can replace illumina or is it a tech that can take some market share? Also, Element coming up an HT sequencer? Everyday the competition and news against illumina is getting bad and the stock couldn’t cross the 100$ mark. Even Grail stock was over 100$ today at one point. Are we losing it? Just an worried employee 😢

@fy , so did anyone in position of leadership sit down a few years ago and throw out there, “Hey, so those Solexa patents are going to run out in a few years, should we do something to be prepared for that?”

@dj : yeah that's what we were told also for the first 3 years of competition: don't worry about it. They will be gone in a year!
I will let you judge 5 years later where we are! and the heavy discounting we now have to do to even get a say on the table...
We might have tricks but never positioned at the right price to compete...
I wouldn’t worry too much. Illumina still has tricks up its sleeves.
