I go on maternity leave in 6 weeks. If I’m laid off, can I negotiate my severance pay to cover the full maternity leave. The leave is already filled with Target. Are there any other protections I can ask for/negotiate on?

@cy that won’t matter. People were laid off while on maternity and medical leave in 2015.
You might be spared just because firing someone about to go on maternity leave is potentially opening themselves up to liability. I don’t know how it works with external companies doing the decision-making, though.
I was laid off a few months ago and you cannot negotiate anything.
Severance is an option provided by the company. It is NOT required by law. So generally there is no negotiating. Take what they offer you, if anything, and just spend it wisely.
