Thread regarding Paramount Global layoffs

Anyone in HR can confirm the slack bug?

Not asking for a rumor, or a guess, or a speculation. Can anyone in HR or anyone in a related part of the company that manages things like slack, or anyone who 'recently had dinner' with either of those people can confirm whether this is a bug or not?

We all know that layoffs are coming basically a week from now. Can anyone confirm or deny what's happening? So far the only 'official' word has been in the #slack-tips channel where they called it a bug that they're working on, but I am inclined to call bullsh-t. Murray and Success factor have been unaffected, though.

@mg ah, yes... you've discovered HR is NOT a department meant to advocate for the people of a company... it's actually a department meant to protect the company from its people.

Dealing with HR was honestly awful. They didn’t care, didn’t listen, and definitely didn’t have employees' backs. It always felt like they were just there to protect the company, not support the people. So I wouldn’t expect them to confirm or deny anything transparently.

@aq quite the perfect timing for this bug. Out of any semblance of empathy or sensitivity they should at have at least disabled the org chart feature in Slack until the bug is fixed. But then again they get off making it as painful as possible.

@ac You say you can’t confirm or deny, but you have the lists and access to Slack. Make it make sense. Do us a solid as your anonymous here – are the changes in the Slack org a reflection of who’s being laid off?

I am confused why the cable networks group (to which I belong) didn’t have any changes on Slack, when we’re all expecting huge layoffs on our side.

I didn’t notice this so went to go check just now and I see people on slack org charts who were laid off in last round suddenly back/visible, in addition to a bunch of other random gaps and changes. Seems like a bug

@ac You can't confirm nor deny because you don't know or because you aren't allowed to say? Can you hint at which sectors will be hit the hardest? Any rhyme or reason to how they'll do the layoffs?

not HR but my VP also suddenly orphaned like me from chart that has been accurate and unchanged for at least a year could not confirm it was unrelated to layoffs Fri afternoon ..
CBS
guys - no reason to at me or call me stupid or write a report on how slack works or says it's been broken for months - our chart was not - we see many people believe that emphatically and i hope you are correct

IMO- there is zero reason charts changed for some parts of the company - Thursday night -unless some update occurred and as the OP stated HR would know ... and i will know 10 28 if it's the two of us ..

I cannot confirm nor deny. All I can say is a lot of people are about to lose their jobs.
