Thread regarding Imperial Oil Limited layoffs

Show me the door and give me the money

Any advice on how to maximize probability of being laid off and obtaining the severance as soon as possible?

Send an email directly to John Whelan saying how you believe he is failing Imperial as a stand alone company. His actions are self centered and not in the best interests of Imperial. Cc your BU line of management. That should accelerate your exit.

I agree, if you’re going to let me go then do it now. Don’t waste my time. I don’t have the patience to train the btc replacements. The mood in the office is even more toxic, people talking and gossiping nonstop…

Work core hours. Decline all discretionary meetings. Expedite the transfer of your responsibilities to a colleague who is willing to work more to save their job

I would like to be severed, Tired of this drip drip news, tell me what is owed to me and I will gladly leave. To those corporate schmucks who think replying yes to mobile will spare you think again.EM will sell IOl to the highest bidder, we’ve all suspected it but now it’s the rumour in Houston

At Calgary the answer is "not mobile".

At a site the answer is "not mobile" and delete everything on your career connect

I will be on the first flight out, severance in hand. The company should let us go, they already told us they don't want or need us going forward.

@a7 I think that's only applicable to Calgary personnel, no so for ppl already at plant

OP. Just go into work and slow down. I mean, sloooooow dooooown.
Tell your supervisor that you cannot take extra work, mentor, participate in “step-outs”, stop attending unproductive meeting (all I guess). And when working with anyone from India tell them you do not understand them.

Hope this helps.
Please keep us posted.

@OP The sentence you shared—

“Not mobile” on the survey automatically puts you on the severance bucket. Anyone on it gets processed first and will soon be out the door. Why would they continue paying you salary when you obviously don’t want to relocate?

—is grammatically understandable but could benefit from a few tweaks for clarity and tone, especially if it’s meant for professional communication. Here’s a refined version:

Selecting “Not mobile” on the survey automatically places you in the severance group. Individuals in this category are prioritized for processing and will soon exit the company. From the company’s perspective, continuing to pay your salary doesn’t make sense if you’ve indicated an unwillingness to relocate.
