Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Anyone else going through something similar to this?

In the past few weeks my boss has asked for several things that seem unusual:

  • a certain document she could pass off to the EOM/Acceleration team cuz they are trying to understand certain things for “future state white papers”
  • summaries of all projects I’m currently working on
  • list of priorities for 2026

All of this just seems very sus. Starting to think I’m cooked lol. Anyone else being required to do similar tasks?

@OP this happened to my team this summer. All of a sudden we were getting random projects that didn’t make sense thrown at us, but at the same time constantly being asked to document what we were working on, like multiple times a week. Some people were being asked about their background and what they thought they were bringing to specific projects. Things were always weird on my team, but they got extra weird for a couple of months before we got eliminated. I also know other people that got axed and didn’t deal with any of this stuff. There really is no way to predict what’s going to happen, but a sudden change in your leader’s behavior is a good indicator that your team is being scrutinized.

@a9 I got laid off from a previous job and this is exactly what they did. They ask for work load and future projects so they know what needs to be offloaded/outsourced when they eliminate a role.

I hope this is not the case for you, but I would absolutely download my year end reviews onto my personal laptop so you can update your resume and start applying this weekend.

I haven’t been asked to do any of the same stuff, but I’m doing this myself in the entirely likely event I lose my job. It brings a small amount of peace to my mind.

Best of luck friend.

@OP You may actually be cooked if you use the terms "cooked" and "sus". : ) j/k!!! Gen X here and just cranky and old. Good luck to you. Hope you are spared.

@OP what area are you in if you don’t mind me asking? I haven’t been asked to provide documents, current work load or future projects, but I’m hearing my area —planning—might be hit

Not yet.

Sorry you’re dealing with that. Hope you come out OK when the dust settles.

@OP I had to do all these kinds of things too. I had to offshore something I’d done for seven years. One of my projects was given to someone else. I know I’m cooked.
