@wh don’t ever acknowledge/ sign the document for pip. My manager once tried forcing me into pip, I never signed the document and they ultimately put my name down on the list and I was let go. I got an exit in May 2024 and after 8 months got a better role.

depends upon how many years you have in the company, that's the differentiator.
@xc not really good deal. If I was WFRed, I would have received 11 months of pay.
@wh IMPO, this is actually good news. You are GUARENTEED 3 months of pay while you can do the absolute minimum for those 3 months. As far as I'm aware, if you are on PIP, you can't be laid off so long as you are doing your job - even at a minimal level.
I mean, a 3 month PIP is more money than you'd get if you were to get laid off... which is only 2 months. I was PIP'd when I worked Pro Support many many years ago and tried my best bc I needed the job but, manager told me I'm unlikely to pass it and gave me a deal. He said that if I can either try to finish the PIP - and likely fail - or, I can quit and he'll pay me out for another two checks. If I quit, the PIP would not go on an HR record if I wanted to come back, so I ended up quitting.
I quit and took the money because I DID want to come back to Dell, but in a different area.. I got 2 free checks, and state unemployment money. Ironically, 2 years later I was back at Dell but in a TOTALLY different area/org/department. I'm still there now and I wonder if I would have been hired FTE if I had originally failed that PIP 2 years prior.
You have 3 months of getting paid + insurance + the ability to do the bare minimum, while you search for a new job. Not a bad deal IMPO.
Update. I was put on PiP, then asked if it was to get rid of me with no package silence was the answer. Meeting just ended, that's it. So, got PiPed for 3 months. Time to actively search for a new job.
guess not
so what happened??? Was there a layoff?
