Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

AI Agent

On reddit one user asked if they had implemented an AI Agent in production in a Fusion application and in comments the responses are that this is still in a testing phase on a customer site when they submit SRs and „it’s anything but a success”, they don’t have AI yet and enterprise AI is over promise. If these comments reflect the real state, it’s really hard to understand how can they do the employees huge layoffs at this phase?

To implement AI agents will have the same fundamental challenges of enterprise implementations. You will still have to map business processes that you want to automate! So good luck with that! It took years to customers to move to cloud, let’s see if it’s the same pattern for agents.

I'm pretty sure that all principle scientist roles at oracle are being replaced by AI agents.

What I feel is that Oracle is moving away from SaaS. Basically we don't have many solid projects (I am a senior principal scientist)

It is kinda of worrying me.. Everything is just prompt engineering. So it seems like if anyone not adding value to infra.. It is risky .

@OP They just don't care..they will layoff support saying AI Agents are doing an excellent support job.

Someone working as an AI scientist, tbh internal AI stack is like 100 years old and it is not cutting edge. So definitely no such case.

@cy Agree,.but I don't think any of the recent layoffs (at least in development) were due to agent deployment.

@c9 not just things like that...a lot more complicated, intricate things that should not be handed over to AI, like the entire contracting part. I would not want or trust a robot to be quoting an order, drafting my multi-million dollar contract with a customer, but that's what is happening. It's absolutely not just administrative tasks--they're combing through everything and ridding any person, team, group, etc. they may be able to because of internal AI.

@aw Agent Studio is targeted to automate business functions. If you are a developer it won't take your job. Only if you a clerk entering invoices or things like that.

Its not AI Agents, its corporate greed behind layoffs. All these jobs are going outside US.

FYI
This has nothing to do with what the OP was asking.
