For the same job role in the same group, some are remote, and some are required 4 full days.

Life will always be "unfair." Just seems with the current regime, they flaunt it more than it was. The old guard would hide it a lot better. Or it's the fact that we have all these RTO mandates that we zero in on the exceptions more.
News flash, we are ALL on borrowed time. Remotes are already the minority in these waves of layoffs. They are coming for all of us. Going in to the office just makes you more expensive / a more justified outsource, AI, contract target. People need to stop kidding themselves.
@bc said it well. Remote is a holding pattern for those who will be laid off. It's not a perk, it's a sentence.
The only exception are those with medical accommodations and they have to recertify/justify annually.
Everyone who is listed as "Remote" is on borrowed time (save for select medically approved employees who will have to jump hoops about every year to continue to be allowed to work remotely). We might envy them now, but their time will come, just like everyone before them.
The remote people either have to move or they get laid off. What's "unfair" is people were hired with the expectation that they'd be remote only to have the rug pulled on them. Some people have been remote for many years, not they lose their job or have to move. It's stupid.
