Thread regarding VISA Inc. layoffs

Layoffs started. Best of luck everyone

I know one person was let go. That person told me entire team of three people were let go.
Spending on AI so Visa has to save money somewhere.

Absolutely crazy situation going on in O&I team. 3 members who were active contributors asked to leave with 1 hour notice in the US Denver region.

@1nc Can you be more elaborate on this? Is it at VP level? Who is getting kicked out?

Annual review is good for yes men only.. managers are dummy only. VP will decide the rating though he does not know what the employee has done during the fiscal year.. manager will just follow his instructions. No honest review .. no one reads the workday what and how .. that is just for name sake. This is my experience and genuine comment.

Comments about NS scores are right. Managers are forced to give a minimum percent of their team a bad rating. If you try to refuse, your manager or theirs will change the scores anyways then make you rewrite your evaluation of the person to fit the rating. I know of several managers that purposely keep a poor performer around so they have a sacrificial lamb during the review period.

@js completely agree. But as a director we are enforced to the distribution curve. If you have a great team you still need to put people in NS. It's not a debate, it's enforced.

Ns is then the decision to push people out.

@18s what teams?

@1bn I can only speak for the US. Each people leader who is a VP and above gets a report of attendance sorted by number of days in the office for all reports who are not considered "remote".

Is it true that leadership team has access to a dashboard that tracks office attendance?

@ce Every team and every location. I know of 5 people from three different teams and two locations that were let go. Managers are making up their version of fiscal year to justify NS ratings to let people go or package people out.

Yet, Visa has the audacity to push fluffy statements from executives about psychological safety on Mental Health Day.

Our BU lost two people this week.

Here one week and actively contributing, next week disappeared.

I’m not aware of “layoffs” proper; rather, ‘tis the season where performance-based terminations happen as part of Annual Review discussions.
