Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

I wasn't laid off but my husband was over 2 years ago. He was great at his job and we were all in for dell getting us out of retail store and having a more professional career finally! Then I started seeing people cut for a few years and then he was cut. And I watched how lonely it was for him when none of his team reach out to check in on him. None of my team wanted to hear about my husbands layoff either. They wanted to go on living like they didnt know someone effected and no one helped him with job postings except his very kind manager. He was out of work for over a year. He finally got a job from his previous manager who left and was hiring.

I had a team mate cut a few weeks afyer husband started work. She was a nice lady and I felt like I was reliving my husband's layoff through her. I checked in on her sent her job postings and she got a really great job somewhere else. And when she found out theu were hiring again she reached out to me and had me apply and I got the job. My base is the same as my total take home at Dell plus another 60% of my salary availble as a bonus. My husband makes more too now. We still hate dell and recently got rid of all our dell shirts and cr-p. Even the Polaroid that says dell on it one of us won in a contest. I think I'll always hate dell but I dont focus that much on the hate and only focus on the fact that we got stronger during his layoff and now we are both in better places thankfully. I hope you learn to let it go since you can't control what happened to you but you can control how you react and your next steps toward a new job. Best wishes on your job search!

Being at Dell was just a depressing experience that just kept on getting worse.

Such a low-budget outfit. And the leadership ranks are filled with unimpressive people.

No anger, just relief, as well as pitty on those left.

Angry? I was mostly relieved when it finally happened.

Still pi---s me off sometimes, even after more than six months since getting laid off — especially after working there for over 15 years. But honestly, it turned out great in the end. I found a good place to work, making more money and with less stress, so the layoff actually worked out for me.
No hard feelings though — I’ve still got a lot of friends there and I really hope things don’t get any worse for them. I just swing by here every now and then to see what’s going on.

Never take it personally unless you know for sure they were gunning for you and even then it hurts you more than them to be bitter. You never really know other people’s motivations. I find in general this company has so much corruption, cronyism, nepotism, caste-ism, s-xism, and all the other isms that you never know why. But one thing that’s for sure, the ones that got spared have friends in high places or kiss a-s.

14 months since my layoff and I still come here hoping for news that the Dell tu-d finally succombed to the flush and went down the drain.

Super regretful that I gave so much work and innovation to that sh-t stain of a company. Fu-k you Mike, fu-k you Jeff, fu-k you forever.

I was about to rage-quit with the RTO mandates but luckily got my golden ticket with severance.

I always thought of dell as an H1b and retirement sanctuary.
I am angry at myself for being okay with such low standards.

I was hit about a year ago. I still read these boards, and I am rooting against Dell. It turned out that being laid off after almost 24 years was a great thing to happen to me. I have dramatically improved my physical and mental health. My new job is 1000x better than Dell.

I channeled the fear and anger into motivation to work on myself and tighten up my story. I was underutilized, shuffled around, and mismanaged as part of the long decline of Dell's finance / business operations function. This last year has been tremendous for me, but it's sad/frustrating to think about how bad the Dell experience ended up being the last few years.

I was angry for a good year until I heard something to the effect of "don't put your pain at the forefront of your life". You will never heal until you find a way to move past it.

I knew in 1st year in it was a garbage pile. I did nothing about it since it was just a low effort "job." I started quiet quitting since there was actually no upside at Dell for working hard.

Then it turned into 4y. So I am angry and feel somewhat humiliated that I allowed myself to stay there so long.

Every time I look at my resume I see that stain. It always stings.

I've been working at Dell for a very very long time. This place became highly toxic the last few years. We are understaffed in my group, and people are leaving without being replaced, and upper management doesn't give a sh-t.

Agreed with the person that hates Dell.. after putting up with bs from dell over the last 8 god awful years I only have anger left.. i always was trying to give Dell the benefit of doubt STUPID my mistake. It will be a long long time especially if you put up with it awhile :(
